Ill manors trailer review

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hfxWjUcbzs&safe=active

1) The Ill Manors trailer shows many codes and conventions, there were names of institutions and slogans , there was the actors names , also t the end of the trailer it showed the release date. They do this to trailers so that they can inform the audience.

2) Usually film trailers are distributed by the same studio that produced them, for example the Warner Bros distributes Harry Potter films. Trailers can be released on a DVD or tape to be viewed by customers going to rental stores; also you can obtain trailers from websites such as apple.com, they have a majority of films of the website.

3)They used big text and non diagetic music. Also they used quit shots of the scenes from the movie this makes the movie look interesting and exciting, there were no narrative speech in the trailer because the song created by Plan B was played over the trailer. This showed a use of synergy this would attract more audience.
4)The target audience for this trailer would be young adults and teenagers. The trailer had a very unique selling point to appeal to the target audience, they used a well known London artist (Plan B) to create a track for the film, this would attract many young adults and teenagers because its the age of audience he performs to. The trailer is edited with quick shots of different scenes; this creates tension and excitement for the audience, making them want to see more. The main stars are not visible in the trailer this creates mystery for the audience. At the end of the trailer it shows all the information about the film this is to inform the audience of the release date and the directors name etc.

5)The characters in this trailer help the audience realize that the genre of this trailer is urban drama , we can tell because the charters are young adults who wear a thuggish style of clothing. Also the setting compliments the genre as it is set in a rough and poor area this will automatically make the audience know what genre the film is going to be . The trailer has lowkey lighting , this connotes that the film will be violent and serious; this links with the genre. The song chosen for the trailer (created by Plan B) is very fast and violent it compliments the style of genre as the song is angry and gangster. The trailer has many close up shots to show the the emotion of the characters, it matches the genre because most of the close up shots showed a serious. mood.

The trailer hooks the audience on to it is because it looks entertaining and powerful, the editors use of quick shots is effective as it makes it look exciting and tense. The use of Mise En Scene answers the audiences question for knowing what the story line is about, as you can see Drugs, Prison, Money ect. The use of these props in the trailer connote that the film is going to be violent.

bag exercise anotation

I liked the intro part of the exercise the way Zulks face looked serious , this showed the audience that the short clip was going to be serious. I could see that there was a use of lowkey lighting this connotes that there could be conflict. I thought the setting for the scene was great it looked like a professional office. I also liked the shot where it looked like Zulk actually oped the door (the door already open).

I though the following shots of the close up brought out the tense emotion showed on the characters faces , it makes the audience want to watch more. On the other hand there was a slight fault with the close up of the phones , i think that could cause the audience to loose their focus. On the other hand i thought it was a good use of Mise en Scene , it connotes that the character Stefan was playing was a wealthy character. Similarly the the first medium shot of Stefan shows a big jug next to him this would distract the audience , it was a nice way trying to make the setting look more professional but sometimes its better to leave things how they are.

I think the dialogue and acting was excellent both actors stayed in charter and kept the tension going throughout , also the body language of both characters was very professional and realistic. I liked the way Stefan looked outside to his left that was very good acting , also i thought Zulks role of acting intimated and scared was great , it showed the audience that Stefan character had a higher status in the exercise. The switching of over the shoulder shots were brilliant , i think we filmed very well. I thought tense music throughout was a great idea it kept the audience on the edge of their seat. The following wide shot of the bag being slid across the table was brilliant , it looked really professional. The shot taken of Stefan opening the bag showed great tension , it showed the audience that the bag was valuable.

However at the end of the clip when the scene fades out , there was an acting error with Stefan as he slightly smiled at the end, this could cause the audience to lose focus of the pace and tension making them have a negative response towards that scene.

Adverts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-gGFaDZc3k

In this car advert both genders are being targeted , this connotes that the car being used in this advert is a unisex vehicle. The colours of the car used for the advert also connnotes the gender , as the male is driving a silver car .This is a dark and dull colour so this shows a more of a masculine side , but on the other hand there is a woman driving the red ford fiesta , the colour red connotes love and so this shows more of a feminine side.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0gJLjiNf_Q&safe=active

This advert targets men , you can tell from the start of the advert , as you see a man doing up his tie while the time ticks away. There is no sort of feminine content or image in the advert , this shows that the watch being advertised is only for men.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kCdMfP-gQg&safe=active

This advert targets men , you can tell by the way the man calls up the two australian men for advice about his wife's looks (quite funny) this advert connotes that the drink "Fosters" is for men.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYZMlOFU4zM&safe=active

This advert targets women becuse it has a female voice in the back round this connotes that the product is more feminin than masculine , also the woman in the advert is the problem solver as she throws a normal piece of toilet roll to the mans hands

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcfnGHUlkss&safe=active

This advert is targeted at men , as the advert shows a boy using the deodeorant and turning into a chocolate man. You can tell this advert is for men when the famles start chasing him, this advert connotes that the deodeorant will attract famales , so this means this shows that this advert is masculine

The 4 C's

Main Streamer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VB2PhUijUNM

This commercial is aimed at people who seek security , as they want to protect them selves from anything at all times. This is a good commercial for main streamers because the advert talks about keeping your home safe and comfortable by using alarms.

Aspirers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP-uB6RQNSg

This commercial is aimed at people who focus more on the looks than the actual product , i would put this section of viewers under Aspierer's. These viewers seek status and are materialistic , also they are acquisitive  and oriented to image and appearance.

Explorers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Rc4MDmr8o

This commercial is aimed at people who want to explore new things , and people who want to keep up with the future generations of technology. The reason i chose this advert is because it is about the iphone5 , this is the newest phone out so far.

Fish Tank Review

FISH TANK REVIEW

A mother and daughter find themselves locked in an ugly battle over the same man in this drama from writer and director Andr. Mia  is 15 years old and lives in a shabby apartment block with her mother, Joanne and younger sister, Tyler. Mia is a reckless and rebellious teenager who frequently argues with her mother and sister and has run afoul of the authorities at school, leading to her being suspended.

At the start of the film, i wasnt very interested because of the lack of quality in the filming. I noticed that the camera shots were mostly medium. Also the film used lowkey lighting this connotes that the film was going to emotional. The use of mise en scene in the film shows us that the family are low class due to  their clothing in the film.

I enjoyed the way the director picked a main character that couldnt dance, because it makes the film more realistic, it shows us that not everyone succeeds in life. Also i liked the story line and the drama between Mia and Joanne's boyfriend , it creates excitement and tention making the audience want to watch more.

Also i believe that the horse that was locked up symbolised Mia trying to break free in life , as she felt as if she couldnt express herself living at home with her mother and sister. This connotes that the character felt isolated and unwanted

Romeo

I thought the story line was very interesting and I enjoyed the hybrid of the two genre's , as it was a romantic drama. There many different angled shots that i enjoyed in this trailor, especially the shot  at the end where the main character friend shouts the name "Romeo" it shows a exellent way of focusing with a camera.

I also enjoyed the intermate scenes between the male and female charcater this connotes the genre of the film. This also connotes that the main audience for this film would be young female adults round the age of 15 and upwards.

Also the i enjoyed the acting , i liked the way the charcters took their role seriously. There was certain scence that i liked which was when Elliott and Reece were arguing in the house, i thought that was a good was of creating tension and drama.

The Mise en Scene connotes that the film is in modern times as they use colloquialism a great amount of times. This shows one of the reasons why the audience would be young adults.

Fish Tank was funded by UK Film Council and BBC films. Films can be funded by the national lottery. I believe that the target audience for fish tank was young adults and teenagers. The top 3 Genres targeted at the ages of 16-25 is horror , comedy and action , also the distributor of fish tank is IFC films , a film distributor is company which releases a movie to the public.

The film was promoted in France at the 62nd cannes festival. The trailer of the film hooks audience into the narrative and pose questions that the film will answer is because the trailer highlights a young girl who is living in a deprived area. She also was experiencing family problems which made her feel isolated and alone

The Tailor of Fish Tank shows the hard life of a young teenager living in a council estate , having to deal with problems. The young teenager has a dream of becoming a professional dancer but she cannot fulfill her dream due to her deprived background making her feel worthless and depressed.
