Noir

In the Film Noir low-key lighting is used to create shadows, on the other hand the film Noir means black so this connotes that they have made an emphasis of the dark, as one of the main features of Noir is the level of darkness. Noir is effective towards the audience because it uses different types of lighting. This makes the film look more exciting.

Throughout this film trailer they move from high key lighting to low key lighting, on the other hand it begins to use a lot of high key lighting and using the back lights until the female character hands him the book. The scene changes to the man in the car , this is when they use low-key lighting. Due to the low-key lighting the scene is dark and you are only able to see half of the male characters face because there is a shadow on it. The scene    then changes to the man breaking into the house and the lighting is still low-key until the female character enters the scene that is when the lightings brightness increases but not by a lot. The scene is then changes to a man and woman kissing which is in high key lighting. In the next scene i am unsure if the lighting is high key or low key , it is hard to focus on the light because the text comes up on this scene. When the text "The Big Sleep" comes up the lighting is high-key.
